Myo-on-Benzaiten Myoondo ( Temple ) 妙音弁財天: Cross Karasuma street to the other side and make your way toward the point where Kamo River and Takano River joins. This point is called Delta. You will notice this small temple ( which looks more like a small Shinto shrine ) is called Myo-on Bezaiten located on the West side of the Kamo River in the Demachiyanagi neighborhood ( It was called this way named after Yanagi " willow Tree " standing on the west side of the river ). The temple enshrines a deity called Benzaiten which is also called Myoon Ten. She was worshipped as a patroness of music, speech, wealth and wisdom since she pleases ordinary people with her beautiful voice. Benzaiten is the Japanese name for the Hindu goddess, Saraswati. The place is also known to display a Helberd ( pike ) used in Goryo festival of Kamigoryo Shrine in its main hall. It is believed to have a strong connection to Shirakumo Shrine inside Imperial Palace of Gosho nearby since it is located on the straight line from the mojor Benzaiten of Lake Biwako ( in north-east ) and the one in Shirakumo Shrine ( south-west ). This one comes right in the middle. ( Trans-word+ : TGM Kyoto Guide )
Karasuma (x Karasuma) of Kawara-machi (○ Kawaramachi) close by, as well. Station name "demachiyanagi" that comes, "willow (Willow months Tsuji / Willow Tsuji)" West place "Demachi" (alias), and on the East side of place names and the Kamo and Takano river confluence, across. -"Benzaiten", Japan's "Sarasvati" name, rather than in the Chinese version.
