  • Buddhist temples nestled in the mountains west of the city. Oharano where poor access comes v-neck to many here that even at the top level, access is not good. Come Keihan Kyoto Kotsu Bus comes from Kyoto station, it will take you to the nearest bus stop is must walk towards the mountain close to 2 km from there. Also bus weekends and holidays not only one hours and scheduling very difficult. Environment and filled with many leaves and can imagine easily change views in the autumn season. You can enjoy the views from the observation deck of the main hall behind. Don't feel balanced environment itself is never the do not go by car to be honest as long as original.

  • Konzoji Temple is located in the south-west part of Rakusai district called Oharano in Ukyo Ward. The temple is up on Mt. Oshio. The temple belongs to Tendai sect of Buddhism and it was originally established in 718 established here by the order of Emperor Gensho. Large part of the temple was destroyed during the warring period of Onin and later reestablished by Keishoin who is mother to Shogun Tsuneyoshi Tokugawa and also known as a temple mentioned in an oldtime story book of Kokin. The place is popular by hikers and visitors wishing to see autumn leaves. The entrance to the temple is 300 yen which you volunterily pay into an offering box at the entrance gate since the temple is not usually attended by anyone. On your way up the mountain in your approach to the temple, there is a sacred place of worship with a beautiful water fall. This is where a purification ritual is held among priests serving in Konzoji Temple. It is called water fall of San ( delivery ) visited by the ones wish for giving safe delivery. The hight of the fall is approximately 12 meters. The access to the temple requires some hiking after getting off the bus at the nearest bus stop ( Minami Kasuga Bus stop ) since the temple is up on the elevation of 350 meters above the sea level. It requires about 50 minutes hiking. Please follow the direction of hiking course on your way. To get to the location of bus stop by taking a train, take Hankyu Line o Higashi Muko Station. The bus you take is also Hankyu Bus. ( Trans-word+ TGM Kyoto Guide )
  • This mountain temple is situated on Oshio mount about 350 meters above sea level. A small steep road leads to the temple, there is also a hiking path that you can climb to reach the top. There are not so many people that visit this temple because its up a steep mountain, no public transportation except to the foot of the mountain. When I drove out there, it was a bit scary as the road is narrow and steep! If you do, an oasis of stillness is awaiting you with stunning colours of the maple trees! Konzou-ji was established in 718 and is was built by Emperor Genshou. Autumn is the time to visit as the view is extremely beautiful.
