Jingoji Temple, Kyoto

4.4
Throw your troubles away by hurling an inscribed clay disc from a cliff at Jingoji Temple. Offering a great view from atop a hill at 650 m (2,132 ft) altitude, the most visited Buddhist temple in Takao sits at the end of a 350-step hike up a stone stairway. As you admire the impressive wooden architecture, set in an intensely colored forest, you can alse enjoy panoramic views of a river that meanders through the valley beneath this Shingon shrine. Originally built in 824 CE, most of the present-day structure dates from 1623. Art lovers can admire the temple's statue of Yakushi Nyorai, declared a national treasure, before grabbing a snack at the cafeteria nearby. • In the same way as other Japanese, there is not much cement and metal building, still retained from the front of the stone ladder, although it is a bit difficult, but the ancient wind espresso thick. After a section of the stairs, it was a suddenly, surrounded by a maple tree of red and lovely. There are a few tea houses here, perhaps the wind is too beautiful, a lot of tourists dazed to go to help shirt. Although the business should be tight, but the owner of the tea house is not too greedy, the environment is still very good, not all the food can be done. Tea houses are sold in the Ukrainian or Keita of the kind of "food", coupled with thick eyebrows and pigs are not hungry, so there is no help shirt. Not yet in the temple, the wind has been extremely beautiful, thick eyebrows really want to stay here to take pictures. A section of the stone staircase from the teahouse is the doorway of the Temple of God. It's not too expensive to take 600 yen a person. A walk through the door is a square, the square side is and the atmosphere of the LU Soul Temple, visitors can not go in. Ming centered on around a few beautiful maple trees, coupled with the light line is absolutely good, itinerary into a beautiful painting. The temple is extremely large, but it is only a small part of the audience, but it has been enough for two or three hours. Jintang entrance gathered a lot of Buddha locals, but the order is good, a quiet to take off the shoes, Ann quietly go in, than the Chinese Buddhist temple is much more quiet. There is nothing special about the tower, the scenery around the circumference is also very general, do not go to no nuisance. The location of the Shinzo hospital is relatively far away, to walk a small section of the mountain Road to go. In the first place is an observation deck, there are a lot of people in this "earthen cast (Japanese: かわらけ cast), that is, a small pottery saucer lost out, meaning to drive away the nightmare." Pottery dish to 300 yen, good expensive, but a lot of tourists seem to do not mind, so sell the dish business well, one side to do a laugh. Suspension Cliff to Out is Jin Yun Creek, view open praise, but not very beautiful. The thick eyebrows and the pigs go to the other mountain road and return to the master's Hall, which is a dense maple tree, which is the most beautiful autumn color of the whole temple of God. The Temple of God is the largest of the three temples in Kaohsiung Mountain, and when we are on the observation, we remember to keep more time.

  • Nice temple. In a further away place but nice nature and scenary around. The river and beautiful trees and surroundings is amazing. Temple is dark inside with Buddhist shrines and idols inside and looks pretty around the outside. I found the temple behind this main temple to be quite interesting, being red and matching the autumn leaves during my time of visit.
  • Lonely Planet....you finally delivered. This made my whole trip to Kyoto worthwhile. I felt such calm here. Truly magical experience. Great to get away from the insanity of the popular temples in Kyoto. Oh...and I threw some clay discs into the valley!
