Honen-in, Kyoto

4.2
Explore the secluded woodland of Honen-in, a temple set in peaceful grounds. While the actual temple buildings open to the public only twice yearly (the first week in April, and the first week in November), you are always free to explore the calming surroundings, complete with raked gravel gardens and a tranquil carp pond. Be sure to check out the onsite gallery, which frequently exhibits national and international artists. • At one of my favorite temples, when I walk on a philosophical path, I always lean. It is a few minutes from the way of philosophy, but whenever you visit it, tranquil air flows. This time, it was the time of the hotseat of the autumnal leaves, but still, it was quiet enough to be able to forget the bustle of the approach of the Ginkakuji and the philosophy, and the mind settled down. It is a dignified view to the gate of the thatched roof especially favorite. The temple grounds, the main hall, and even the autumnal leaves are not flashy, but they are suitable for the temples, there is a taste, and you can feel ' wabi lonely '.

  • A school trip nearly forty years ago. At that time, I did not know anything just because it was on the course. But I remember the quiet, calm atmosphere, the clear air flowing, and I was really moved. Because it is a little out of the way of the philosophy, let's pay attention to the guide version! A big stone pillar of Honen-in is a landmark. If you go up the stairs a little steep, the road goes straight in the left hand direction. The gate is a little high on the road. Thatched roof? is a simple gate, but there is a sense of existence. And, the inner garden spreads when passing through the gate. The characteristic here is that the temple gate is in a high position, so that there is a precinct overlooking! It is the best impression when passing through the gate and a narrow road toward the temple gate! I think that the main hall is in front of the gate, but the main hall here is in the right hand direction. It's just a small donation (maybe it's just the day I went). There is a quiet precinct, no amazing, or there is no flashy. There are not a lot of tourists either by chance. Something amazing "good qi" is flowing. The bride I went with was also "the best!" He said. It is my push.
