Take a dip in one of Japan’s oldest bathhouses, Arima Onsen, a hot spring resort in a scenic mountain setting. Mentioned in documents for the past millennium, the resort offers two public bathhouses and a number of inns that feature baths for non-staying visitors. Explore the small town, check out the hot springs museum, or sample cookies made with mountain spring water. Have a traditional onsen experience and bathe in two types of hot spring waters: the “gold,” which is rich in salt and iron, and the “silver,” which contains radium and carbonate. Using our custom trip planner, Kobe attractions like Arima Onsen can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • It's a very big hot spring town, with accommodation, restaurants and shops. You can go by car, or you can go on the ropeway. I think the most attractive thing is the old-fashioned "real" cityscape. I don't think this is a part of Kobe city in a big city.
