Ugafuku Shrine ( Goddess of Money Washing), Kamakura

4.1
Religious Site · Tourist Spot
Wash your money in the cave spring of Ugafuku Shrine ( Goddess of Money Washing) and, hopefully, it will multiply. Despite its small size, this 12th-century Shinto shrine enjoys popularity in Kanagawa because of a widely held belief that the holy water inside the dugout cave has the power to bring prosperity in business and good luck with money. Enter through a tunnel in the hillside, halfway down from the park at the foot of the hill, and buy a basket with accessories. Light a candle, burn incense, and pray before you wash the money. Following a steep road, this is a 20 minute walk from Kamakura railway station. Make Ugafuku Shrine ( Goddess of Money Washing) a part of your Kamakura vacation plans using our Kamakura trip itinerary site.
