  • This pond is located in the precincts of Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine, which is also a symbol of Kamakura, and there is a large pond from east to west across the way to the shrine, and it is called Genhei Pond together. If you visit Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine in summer, it seems to be covered with lotus, but when you visit in January, you can't see it at all, and if you don't think about the surrounding scenery, it's like a pond for irrigation in a rural area.

  • On a Sunday afternoon in July, on the way to see a live performance, I visited Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine and saw this pond. It is a pond in the precincts of Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine. The surface of the water of the pond was covered with lotus leaves so that the water could not be seen.

  • Gendaira Pond (Genji pond, Heike Pond) in 1182 (1st year), Minamoto Yoritomo Construction The approach of Tsuruoka Hachiman Shrine "Wakamiya Oji" to pray for the easy delivery of wife Masuko. "Gendaira Pond" was construction with "Wakamiya Oji". It is said that the "Pot Bridge" which is built in "Gendaira Pond" was construction at this time. The motoheiike of the Tsuruoka Hachimangu shrine is thought to have been construction as a "loose pond" based on the Pure Land faith. It is written that the cultivation of three towns called the string winding was stopped and it made it to the pond on April 24, 2009. ("Tsurumaki da" is the Saida that plants the seedlings like a swirl). There seems to have been about three times the size of the current source flat pond of the garbage pond at that time. Minamoto Yoritomo is engaged in the "Unkai" in the Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine on August 15, 1187 (Bunji 3).   Perhaps Carp was released to Gendaira Pond. The right side of the pot Bridge is Genji pond and the Heike pond on the left.  The name of these two ponds is "Gendaira pond". In the old days, the Genji pond was "Shirren", but the "Guren" was blooming in the Heike pond, but today it is a bloom. The white flag of Genji and "Guren" were planted after the red flag of Heike. There are three islands in Genji Pond, and there are four islands in Heike Pond. It is said that this was the one that "birth" which wished the development of Genji and "death" which wished the ruin of Heike. At first, it seems that there were four islands in both ponds, but it is reported that "one Island of Genji pond was destroyed" by the instruction of the Hojo Masako. From the illustration (in 1685 (2 years)) placed on the "Shin Kamakura-shi", all of the south side of Yabusame Baba was a pond.
