Watch sheep, goats, cows, rabbits, and ponies grazing freely at Makiba Park, a Yamanashi prefectural park with vast swathes of grazing land set against a backdrop of Mount Fuji and Mount Yatsugatake. Children can pet the animals by a pond, and you can learn about native Tokara goats and other local species from information tables. Keep an eye out for forest birds, and head to observation decks with white wooden fences providing views over the impressive surrounding scenery. Grab a bite at the onsite restaurant, which offers delicious hamburgers with fresh homegrown lettuce and tomatoes. You can make use of up to 82 free parking spaces at the park. • You can interact with animals such as goats and sheep. The weather was good and the park with a good view made me feel refreshed.

  • Makiba Park. You can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Southern Alps outside the window, the mountain waves of Yake-dake, and sometimes the "Mt. Fuji" that Japan is proud of. The appearance that the goat and the sheep eat the grass is lovely in the makiba ranch. In the restaurant, the ste-ki overlaps with the scenery i was looking at earlier, and the taste is doubled.

  • Very, very large place. You can enter the goat and sheep pen and play with the animals. But, if you want a good hike, the path takes you around the farm. Bring good walking shoes that aren’t afraid of getting a bit off the paved walkway. I took my dogs with me, they loved it but after hours of hiking they were calling it a day.
  • Yes, it's free but despite the amount of property this farm/ park has, there just aren't enough animals. Lots of empty areas with no animals within the fences.....We saw sheeps, goats, and ponies. Might be nice for a walk buy if you have baby strollers, be warned that it's uphill going back to the parking lot!
