Senjokaku, Hatsukaichi

Take in the aging and evocative structure of Senjokaku, roughly the size of 1,000 tatami mats. Commissioned in 1587 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi (one of the three unifiers of Japan), for the purpose of chanting Buddhist sutras to the fallen heroes of war, the building was incomplete when its commissioner passed away, and remains in a sparse state to this day. Though unfinished and lacking a proper entrance, it remains unspoiled, featuring original artworks and decorations on the ceilings and walls. • It looks next to the five-story pagoda located near the Omotesandstreet shopping street. There is an entrance fee. It is a place where it feels considerably old when entering and settles down very why. In the middle, there was a person who lined up in the red mark.

  • Nice place to chill during sunset. Of course best time to go is the red maple/ gold ginkgo season.
  • You can’t NOT visit this when you are in Miyajima!! Amazing views of the tori and nice to walk around.
