Stroll through Rikugien Garden, a peaceful oasis inspired by poetry in the heart of Tokyo. Signage in English explains the connection between the gardens and excerpts of poetry, as you enjoy the scenery of cherry blossoms and the park's small pond. The park really shines during the autumn months, as lights illuminate the red and orange hues of the foliage after dark. You can find amenities throughout the garden, including snack stalls and restrooms. To visit Rikugien Garden on your trip to Tokyo, use our Tokyo trip tool.

Rikugien Garden reviews
Right next to Konagome station. Entrance fee is 300 Yen and the park is a nice stroll. Some nice Autumn foliage but not overly spectacular. Good spot for a stroll away from the hustle and bustle.

We went there in early autumn to see the illumination but the trees haven't quite turned colors yet. If you are coming by the Komagome Station, ignore the big signage pointing you to the garden...

It's really a nice park, quite spacious with beautiful scenery. There is also a unique tea house and since it's surrounded by nature it becomes the perfect place to take a stroll or just spend time reading your favorite book. The only thing is that you have to pay for the entrance fee.
Despite visiting in winter, it was easily one of the most beautiful of the gardens I visited in Tokyo. A prime example of a walking garden, the route is easy to follow and get the most of the experience without having to backtrack. Would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo.
