At Stanze di Raffaello, wonder through the former papal residence and begin to grasp the genius of one of the greatest High Renaissance artists. The four rooms on the third floor were painted floor-to-ceiling by Raphael and his students between 1508 and 1524. The work was commissioned by the Pope Julius II, who wanted to appear superior to his predecessor and rival, Pope Alexander VI. Pay attention to the famous fresco depicting the "The School of Athens"--painted on the wall of pope's library--which portrays Raphael and his fellow contemporaries, including Michelangelo, as Greek philosophers.     We had not expected to find a whole room dedicated to Raphael in the Vatican museum. It contains one of his best known paintings and, with few tourists, we were able to enjoy it quietly and up close  more »

    We were lucky in March 2020 since there were very few other tourist. We had time to look and take photos. The only problem was that the photos didn't do the room justice.  more »

    Хороший дворик внутри дома. Комнаты небольшие, выходят на шумный проспект, реально шумный, окна спасают, но не полностью. Хозяин устроил скандал из-за 5 минут при чек-ауте - будьте внимательны ко времени выезда 🤣 P.S. Dear owner. I carefully checked timing for that day - I admit we missed your message day before about leaving at 10.00 sharp and I insist that we had to leave your apartment at 10.13 having only 10 minutes to pack our bags after phone conversation with you.     Couldn't recomment enough! The place has great location - 5min walk to the vatican city. There are many restaurants, bars and stores nearby. We had breakfast included - at a cafe right across the street which consisted of a coffee and a croissant. Would definitely recommend the place to others visiting Rome.
