Home to one of the most important Asian art collections in Italy, MAO - Museo d'Arte Orientale is inside the Palazzo Mazzonis. Begin your tour on the first floor with the Neolithic China displays, including bronzes from the Han and Tang dynasties. The second floor showcases Tibetan and Buddhist cultural artifacts. The third displays artifacts from the Arabian Peninsula. The palace also features Japanese statues, paintings and a Japanese rock garden. For permanent exhibitions, lots of objects, etc. Namely, in the bookstore there is a catalogue of the exhibition in French!
Beautiful collection that is displayed in spacious rooms. Always interesting themes for temporary exhibitions and great descriptions in English. A firm favourite 10 years ago and now.
The collection of this museum is really impressive, beautiful pieces and nice arrangements. Lights could be better to enjoy textures and details but in general is ok. Firts Wednesday of the week is free entrance. Count at least two hours for the visit.
