Stop by Chiesa degli Eremitani to view a 13th-century Augustinian church that was almost completely destroyed during World War II. Built in 1276, the structure was decorated with Andrea Mantegna frescoes, as well as work by Guariento and Forli. Due to its unfortunate location next to German headquarters, the church was bombed by Allied air strikes. Visit the restored church and observe the frescoes, which have been tediously pieced back together like a puzzle from the destruction. Admission is free.
