Rotonda di San Lorenzo, Mantua

4.5
Ruin · Tourist Spot
The ruins of 11th-century Rotonda di San Lorenzo are cared for by Dominican friars. Built in the Lombard tradition with bricks, the church also borrows columns and marble detail from previous structures that once inhabited the site, one thought to be a temple devoted to Venus. Inside, spot two frescoes, one from the Byzantine era, and another from the 15th century. To visit Rotonda di San Lorenzo on your trip to Mantua, use our Mantua day trip planner.

  • Small round and scientist little church. Very cozy. Impressive to see what a ruin it was prior to restauration.
  • Cool little unique ancient church.
