The Little Museum of Dublin, Dublin

#3 of 362 in Museums in Ireland
The Little Museum of Dublin offers a brief, informative, and entertaining introduction into the life of the 20th-century Dublin. Located inside a Georgian townhouse, the tiny museum houses a collection of over 5,000 artifacts, most of them donated or loaned by ordinary Dubliners. The little museum's big collection includes everything from old toys and antique machines to first-edition books by celebrated local authors and rare stamps with a Dublin connection. Don't miss the exhibit dedicated to John F. Kennedy's visit to the city, and an installation focused entirely on the worldwide success of local rockers from the band "U2." • This is an amazing experience. Well worth the €10 entry fee to spend half an hour with Joan! Thoroughly entertaining and fantastically interesting. The tour is only of the middle floor with the ground and second floors free for you to roam at your leisure. Its a fascinating stroll through Irish history with some ducking interesting facts parked here and there. Good for all ages, win a sweetie, a pencil or gain your professorship in modern history!
  • I very much enjoyed the amazingly curated exhibition of the history of Dublin. Our guide Eamon (or written somehow like this) was extremely knowledgeable and encouraged questions about anything and everything. He was dressed exquisitely timeless (like all the members of the museum staff) and made the experience interactive without being to pushy. To anyone visiting: it might be a little museum but it holds much more than one would imagine. And the U2 dedication room is fun for both, fans of the band and others. Thank you very much, Eamon and everyone at the museum!
