The Sambisari Temple, Yogyakarta Region

Observe the Buddhist and Hindu elements of The Sambisari Temple, a small, secluded 9th-century Hindu temple. The temple was accidentally rediscovered in the 1960s when a farmer ploughing his rice field struck its tip--apparently the structure had been buried under volcanic ash. Note the interesting statues and reliefs in the stone, and walk around the well-maintained garden. Visit the onsite museum for more information about the temple's history and architecture. Rarely crowded, this archeological site exudes a peaceful atmosphere. • It's a temple near the monumental Prambanan complex: nothing to do with the beauty of the famous nearby site, however, if the weather is enough, a jump I would do because the advantage of these "secondary" sites is that they are a little less beautiful but much less crowded and so the visit can buy a lot.

  • What I like the most about this place is that the surroundings are still natural. Moreover you can breathe fresh air since there are trees around the temple. Not far from this place there is also a culinary; Soto Bathok for breakfast. What a morning trip u could have here!
  • good place for a short holiday. this temple is located 6.5 meter below the surface, because it had been covered by the vulcanic dust. now they have renovated the temple and the area. the entry ticket is only 5k per person. pretty cheap, then you can explore and learn this beautiful historical site.
