The area's most prominent natural feature, Tangkuban Perahu represents the only volcano in Indonesia with a crater accessible by either driving or hiking. Most foreign visitors choose to drive right up to the edge of the volcano, where they can observe boiling mud and purchase eggs cooked on hot stones. If you don't want to visit the area on your own, consider joining a guided day trip from Bandung. Several tour operators offer excursions in this region, with stops at the volcano, local markets, farms, and tea plantations. Note that this very active volcano last erupted in 2015. Awesome view of the volcanic crater even if it was foggy at times and the air smells of sulfur, depending on wind direction. I especially enjoyed getting a good look of how the lava cooled... more »
Friendly local people but the price to go there is too much expensive for local tourist. To explore the mountain until deeply down in kawah Tangkuban Perahu, we had to spend around 500 thousand rupiah!! (around 35€) and this price not yet included for the fee of guide. For us who came from Europe, the fee is still fine and we really hope that the money that we spent was really for the budget of maintenance of the historical place.
It was an amazing experience to visit this place with family. You start to feel it's magic even before you reach there. Weather is so cool here that we forget all our personal worries for while and just lost in inspiring it's natural beauty. Steam coming out of hot water is really soothing. To go down side to see hot water springs is a must visit other wise you will miss a amazing place. Better to go with a guide who will explain you about everything here and also help in taking good photos.
