Tilyar Lake, Rohtak

#6 of 14 in Nature in Haryana
Tilyar Lake is one of the major tourist attractions in the Indian state of Haryana. It is 70 kilometers from New Delhi on the Delhi – Fazilka highway and is located close to the city of Rohtak in Haryana. The Tilyar Lake is only 42 km from Delhi border and Tilyar Zoo at Rohtak is well maintained and worth visiting specially for families. Fishing is permissible at Tilyar Lake after paying INR200 fishing fee.The lake lies in a 132acre area and forms an integral part of the tourist setup, making it one of the greenest stretches in the adjoining area. The spacious lawns and the scenery on view make this resort a great place to relax, and people visit from as far away as Mumbai. It is also an excellent spot for watching a variety of birds that flock on the little island located in the middle of the lake. ENtry to Tilyar lake is free. The lake complex also houses Rohtak Zoo.Mini zooHarayana had many mini zoos spread across the state. In 2001 the Government of Haryana decided to shut these down and replace them with well developed viable zoos, this included setting up the zoo at Rohtak within Tilyar Lake complex. As a result, enclosures for housing animals and aviaries for birds were built. Visitor facilities such as landscaping, walkways & trials, gardens, hillocks, lakes, artificial waterfalls, cafe, visitor toilets & resting shelters, watch towers, drinking water facilities etc. were created. Entry is only INR10 for adults and INR5 for kids.

  • When I complete a journey, I would always try recalling the wonderful moments and note it down so that next time I could make it even merrier. Of the entire journey that I have done, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey that I made through the Flight Last vacation, my family decided we would make a Middle East trip for about 5-7 days and return and so the preparations for the same was being carried on. We had our relatives and friends down there who had been inviting us for some time and this time we decided we would make it. We booked our tickets and on the scheduled day we started our journey. We reached the airport on time and the formalities for boarding the flight were all very smooth. We boarded the flight and made ourselves comfortable.
  • Nice place to spend some time with friends and family. There are lots of birds but very less animals in the zoo. There should be more animals. If tigers picture you are pasting then we should be be able to see. Although we had fun while boating in lake but there should be More water and lake should be clean. We can go for small picnic if stays near.
