National Gandhi Museum, New Delhi

4.4
Get to know the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi at National Gandhi Museum. The collections began shortly after his assassination in 1948, and after several relocations, the museum was finally settled in its present location in 1961. Be sure to check out the library, a huge showcase of works from Gandhi and other authors adding up to over 35,000 documents and books. You do not need to be an art lover to enjoy the gallery, which features paintings and other items of Gandhi's. Keep an eye out for his walking stick, shawl, and dhoti worn when he was assassinated. You can also inspect Gandhi's ivory toothpick, and even one of the bullets used to kill the famous leader. • Must visit in New Delhi. We haven't seen much people but this place has a lot of detail about Mahathma Gandhi. It is near to the raj-ghat. It is a very clam and peaceful place. Take few hours and go through all the photographs, it will provide better view about his life. This place is well maintained. There is no any entrance fee.
  • Popped in here for a 1 hour visit and was able to see the highlights. There is a lot to see if you are interested in the life and teachings of Gandhi and want to see pictures etc of his childhood, some of his talks, where he last walked, where he was assassinated. If you want to take the time to read everything than you need a couple of hours. For us an hour was more than enough as the pictures are quite repetitive. There is a fairly large states re on site that sells cloth (clothing etc). This is a typical museum site and has a lot to read and many pictures to look at. Not great for young kids.
