Attracting pilgrims and tourists alike, Venkitachalapathy Temple serves as the site of many colorful festivals. Dedicated to an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the temple was founded by his Telugu devotees. The current structure with sloped roofs was built in traditional Kerala style in 1898, but legend has it that the original shrine was erected on the same site more than 1,000 years ago.
