Explore the dark side of Hungarian and European history at House of Terror Museum, a specialty museum focusing on fascist and communist regimes. The permanent exhibits feature artifacts from Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, the fascist Arrow Cross Party, and the communist AVH (Hungarian State Protection Authority). Walk into the depths of violent, dictatorial moments that took place the 20th century by stepping into the museum's basement, where AVH prisoners were once held and tortured. These cells serve as a memorial to victims of the country's bloody regimes. Since it opened in 2002, this museum has become a member of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience. • House of terror is a must if you want to understand the history of Budapest. It gives a good sense of what the people of the city lived through under both the Nazis and the communist regimes. It remin...  more »
  • 23. Because we were free, and therefore they were a lot, which we have calculated, therefore, will not influence my opinion. Overall, it is an average museum, which tends to be a disalarm as it reveals the terror. We have to describe all sorts of larger bags which (as others have written here) honestly do not even understand what reason? They are afraid to take something when they are not really... A TV (which has a lot of...) I don't think I'll put my bag on.. The workers were quite rude and the customer orientation was seen only on paper, and the Lord at the elevator was an exception to his kindness and helpless. :) An inward thread could be a table in which direction to start because only the exit is written. There are washbasins, but everywhere is 1-1 which can be very small, and at the buffet there was a bad smell. One question would be that of the poor car which we confess in rarity.. Why is black mosquito nets behind?? The effect of paused videos is also already the effect breaks in the person, but the stories are interesting. I feel at once a category... Later we learned from the news that an app was created Budapest 56 which contained more information, but we didn't see any ads in the museum. That said, if we had found out there we wouldn't even download it because the app is 560MB which is very high in today's conditions..

  • Somber but informative. Didn't get the audio guide but was able to understand a lot of the information thanks to the English cards in each room and the subtitles on videos. Certainly worth the entry price, especially considering the lift down to and the basement itself. Chilling but a needed visit for those interested in Hungarian history.
  • Mostly just TVs on walls with similar footage on all of them, all information is on pieces of paper which you have to read while walking around each room. Nothing special at all. Then you have to go in a lift to get to the basement whether you want to or not which takes ages because there's another TV in the lift With a video same as in the treat of the museum. Saving grace is the basement which has original cells for imprisonment which. Other than that it wasn't worth visiting.
