The third-largest ruins in Guatemala, Yaxha National Park, takes its visitors back to the classical period in the Americas via an ancient Mayan city. Walk the ruins to view more than 500 structures of Mayan origin. The jungle has permeated the city, leading animals to share the area with tourists--be prepared to encounter monkeys and tropical birds. As you explore, you'll observe over 40 Mayan stelae, a kind of sculpture and monument, spread throughout the city. After working up an appetite, head to the restaurant at the entrance of the park. It will be for the almost total absence of visitors (there were five of us throughout the complex, including us) that allows you to experience the charm of the site in silence, only with the background of the howler monkeys, Walking in the forest in the paths traced to facilitate the paths in the shade of centuries-old trees was very charming. Here as well as in Tikal there are many pyramids to be unearthed and this also makes everything very mysterious. It's a little hard to get there on the bumpy road, but it's worth it. Climb the mirador and admire the forest from above and the two lakes that line the site. You won't regret it
Sito tra i laghi di Yaxha e Sacnab. Il sito possiede molte strutture tra cui 40 stele. Molte strutture sono ancora da scoprire more »Site between Yaxha and Sacnab lakes. The site has many facilities including 40 steles. Many facilities are yet to be discovered
Yaxha is a lot smaller than Tikal, but still very much worth visiting. You spend more time in the jungle, walking through the unexcavated parts of the town to see the excavated areas. The sunset from the large temple is amazing, listening peacefully as the birds and animals come awake around you.
Wow!!! A must see when in the area! Beautiful jungle! Abundant wildlife! We saw many many monkeys! Several temples and other types of ruins, all of which can be explored. Rich Mayan history. We are excited to return again! No drones, they fine big time!
