Platis Gialos Beach, Platys Gialos

3.7
#2 of 72 in Outdoors in Mykonos
One of Mykonos' more tranquil spots, sits in a crescent-shaped bay just a short drive from the island's main city. The wider waterfront area offers a range of restaurants, bars, and shops, while the beach itself features several snack bars and small cafes. You can swim or snorkel here all day, or use the beach as your base to take long boat tours up and down the coastline. The beach features a watersports club, where you can rent banana boats and snorkeling equipment, or arrange for waterskiing and wakeboarding lessons. To explore other popular beaches along the island's southern coastline, use the taxi-boat service departing from a nearby jetty. • From the big beaches of the island with the same turquoise waters and blonde sand as the most famous beaches (Psarou etc). Full of shops for drinks and food, but attention range from the most expensive of the island to value for money.

  • The beach of Platis Gialos (Platis Yialos) is among the most popular in Mykonos, which testifies to the unseeable crowds of sun loungers and visitors on it, so it is recommended that you reserve your place in advance. Its popularity contributes to the softest and smallest golden sands you will find in Mykonos, and it is a real shame that it is smaller than other beaches. For years, the content is complete, so it should not be surprised that you are immediately asked for a deposit of €50 per person, with the fact that if you are in the first two lines, you must order a bottle of the home of Perignon. However, despite these prices, free space to place your towel on it is almost gone! Small taxi ships known as Caiques are picturesque fishing boats carrying travelers from the beach to the beach. The main Caiques station is in the port of Platis Gialos, although they depart from Ornos Beach and drive you to the beach of Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia. You can visit more of these beautiful beaches during the day.
