Landesmuseum Wurttemberg, Stuttgart

4.2
The caste that houses Landesmuseum Wurttemberg, a historical museum dating back to the origins of man, was built in the 13th century, then remodeled in the 16th century into the Renaissance style. During restoration after World War II, the castle was converted into a museum. Make your way through to see some of mankind's first art and musical instruments, then peer into the Bronze and Iron Ages, up to the Middle Ages, and on to the creation of the Weimar Republic in 1919. You will see many artifacts from throughout history, including items from more recent times, such as the clock collection, the glass collection, and the Royal Tomb and jewels. Put Landesmuseum Wurttemberg into our Stuttgart trip planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • The ground floor was unfortunately under renovation so we only visited two floors. Very interesting and well organized, it definitely worth a visit. Ps. I recommend to buy the stuttcard to the point of information because it allows you to visit the main museums and use all public transport for 37 euros in 48 hours.

  • You get your ticket at the red kiosk in front of the entrance - one day is hardly enough to track down all the treasures! Many things are explained in a child-friendly way, for children at eye level: from the 40,000-year-old treasures from the Vogelherd Cave, early cultures, Roman times, Alemanns, medieval, Gothic, Renaissance until the end of the 19th century and more - exquisitely presented and explained. Until the end of 2019, admission is free for everyone!
