What we were able to see in the museum was not a very large collection. Worth about 15 minutes. Most of the grounds were barricaded so one couldn't walk around. I wish we had known most was closed bef... more »
The main museum focusing on the history and culture of Polynesia is closed until at least 2020 for major renovations. The current buildings flood when it rains hard. So what's open are the temporary exhibit space and the gardens. Until March 2019 the temporary exhibit features some great photographs of the Islands and its people taken by local photographers. You cover both the gardens and temporary exhibit in about one hour. If you happen to be in the neighborhood or passing by, by all means stop by.
Temporary review. The main museum is closed as of October 2018 for renovation. There is a delightful temporary exhibit of Polynesian dance costumes which is very worthwhile for those who are interested. No date for the re-opening.
