  • Beautiful wee gardens and cafe at the top of a hill. Road up is not very well maintained, we got half way up in our small car and decided to go back down and park at the bottom. We watched many...  more »

  • Nice spot with great views. Make sure you check out the garden area too. There was a bit of a language barrier - we wanted a snack but somehow ended up ordering 2 plates of traditional polynesian food. Oh well, it was well worth it for the views! We even made friends with a friendly kitty along the way.
  • Best authentic Tahitian food in all of Moorea. Maybe the only place. When the rest of the islands think Tahitian food is French (the everpresent and popular baguette, entrecôte, French fries) or Italian (pizza) the Tropical Garden serves the real Polynesian deal. On one plate is a medley of traditional island food. A bowl of fish marinated in lime so it has the texture of cooked fish and served with coconut milk and crunchy vegetables, something you see on every menu, is the highlight. There’s taro, sweet potato, a fillet of fish(catch of the day), banana, banana pudding, coconut bread, spinach with chicken, and a nice neat ball of rice. If it sounds like a lot, that’s because it is a lot. Island portions are huge. It’s a hardworking couple who have made it all happen so we don’t fault them for having to wait almost an hour. We enjoyed the view of the bay, the chit chatting of the families gathered there with their kids and a cat that enjoyed making the rounds. They don’t serve this fantastic medley of food every day or for dinner. If you want in on this secret, it’s best to visit Tropical Garden, have a juice, and book a lunch for a Friday or Saturday.
