  • The Palace was built in 1625 for the Queen María de Médicis to be the residence of the Royal family before becoming a prison during the French Revolution. Napoleon later transformed it into a Senate. In 1836 King Louis Phillippe extended it until the current structure. In 1958 Charles de Gaulle established the Fifth Republic and the Senate that we know today of 321 Senators meet at the Palais du Luxembourg. The President of the Senate is the second most important figure after the President of the Republic. Stresses in the Palace library with approximately 450,000 books.

  • I did it for the heritage days. I'm super nice to my visit. I expect any it upon my arrival. By the way, great organization, because I didn't have to wait more than 30 minutes to get there. We saw different parts, each with their history. The pieces that caught my attention are: the Chamber and the library. It was a very nice tour, I absolutely recommend.

  • Lovely gardens and park with lots of places to sit and enjoy. Fountains and water features, statues and live performances. Good people watching.
  • The Location: Metro #4 & 10, Exit : Odeon. About 10 minutes walk to the garden. The Palais is under-construction. There are many securities around the building. Very beautiful building! In the mean time, can check out the museum and hanging out at the park which is the largest park in Paris!
