Chateau de Chambord is the quintessential monument to the flamboyance of French kings; all the grandeur with a dash of delightful whimsy. A dreamscape of turrets and towers rises from the terrace, resulting in its trademark silhouette that has often been likened to the skyline of a city. François I built it to serve as his hunting lodge and it is surrounded by forests that serve as a perfect lead-in to the jaw-dropping first glimpse. The Castle is a perfect example of sixteenth-century Renaissance architecture. When inside, don't miss the famed double helix stairways, rumored to have been designed by Leonardo da Vinci. Explore its vaulted hallways, 400 palatial rooms, decorative staircases, and end your visit by taking a walk in the sprawling gardens. The castle itself is rich in a beautiful collection of furniture and works of art. The atmosphere is very nice and there are still very few tourist buses. A castle that still belongs a little to French visitors and you have room to walk and discover the space in peace. I also recommend the small shops next door to help the local business!

What a change with modern means of visiting and furnished rooms. Some fireplaces are lit and this of course makes the place warmer at this time of year. Finally, the "French"-style flowerbeds are very beautiful.
Impressive chateau from the outside but presentation on the inside was disappointing. No signed route within the chateau. Parking for a Motor home was €11 even though we were not stopping the night. Same price for 24hr stop. Drive past and admire from afar.
Absolutely beautiful. You can definitely see a feminine touch to this chateau. Immaculate exterior and interior, the gardens and stables are stunning. Property also has swans, ducks, donkeys and chickens.
