We were all the more surprised, as friends who had already made this visit, as well as a person from the tourist office, had told us about being taken care of by electric minibuses from the entrance gate, which was not the case in this case at the time of the of our visit. We therefore wished to have some clarification from the guide, who did not give us any answers on this particular point. This is all the more surprising given that the land adjoining the Fort de Brégançon belongs to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and that originally during the construction of the road, during the time of General de Gaulle, the Grand Duke had demanded that vehicles be put to the available to visitors, so that they do not brighten up on his estate, and that these vehicles are electric in order to preserve the ecological character of the place. It is not in our habits to argue, but we have not been comfortable with this guide of suspicious character, and the successive and repeated warnings have seemed to us misplaced vis-à-vis people of mature age.As I mentioned earlier, this visit seems totally unsuitable for people with reduced mobility a fortiori disabled, because no convenience (lack of toilets) seems to be reinforced by the attitude of the guide that does not facilitate the mobility of disabled people who have difficulty walking. In fact, we had to insist a lot that we could be excused from visiting the President's office as it was accessible by a staircase that my wife could not climb because of these knee problems. What should we learn from this visit? Especially the location of this fort in promontory and the magnificent view of the golden islands, and the harbour of Hyères. When inside, we like it or not, the decoration changed according to the tastes of the different tenants. Plus you couldn't touch anything, not sit down, not take pictures. In my humble opinion visit has reserved for people who have no mobility problems, and who are not sensitive to the context of incessant and disturbing directives.

You have to park in the parking lot in front of the entrance of the fort (paying with preferential price on presentation of tickets). We get in a minibus at the entrance to the fort and drive 500 or 600 meters up the climb. The tour begins with historical explanations of the construction of the fort and its origins. Then we climb on foot, while stopping at times to receive other directions about the fort, or its surroundings. It's nice to see this place exercising the power of our Presidents on vacation. The anecdotes delivered by the guide are interesting, and well-paced. You can visit almost anything except the President's room. You can see the emblematic places more or less known. The end of the tour is in the gardens with several different and beautiful views of the sea. It's to be seen, out of curiosity.
Sadly not open for public when we where there, but a nice area, worth a short trip when you r in the area!
Nice surrounding...must go sailing to really enjoy
