Well-preserved medieval city walls, including Tours et Remparts d'Aigues-Mortes, surround this small French town. Take in the views of the region from the terrace. The ramparts stretch for a distance of 1,650 m (138 ft). • Incredibly well preserved medieval defences (walls and towers) on a huge scale. Really impressive place. The old town, inside the walls, is charming.
  • This a great place to spend at least a couple of hours. Technically speaking, the walk around the ramparts could be done in no time at all if you pretend you are a centurion and march, but if you want to check out the interiors of the towers and gates be prepared for it to take longer. There is only one way onto the walls and one way off....in the same location and toilets at the beginning/end. You can of course go just a little way then go back. The views are great especially if you are into rooftops. If you are going all the way round, don’t forget to take some water. Especially on a hot day!
