Cleft Of Gjogv, Gjogv

#2 of 17 in Parks in Faroe Islands
Cleft Of Gjogv represents perhaps the most famous feature of the small village. Here, seawater penetrates the natural rift between two huge stones. If you take a walk to the shore, you'll see wooden stairs that go down to the water in the cleft. This is a small, quiet cove where you can take some time to watch the waves and enjoy the sea breeze. • A small village of fishermen and farmers. The jetty is spectacular as boats come down from a cliff. Houses of another era well maintained. Worth the ride.

  • I visited here when I participated in a day tour. There is a staircase in the narrow gap of the cliff, and the dark blue sea is impressive. The view of the peninsula, the house, and the mountain from the top of the cliff was beautiful.
