  • A wonderful trip to Cairo ended at "El Omda - The Thousand and One Night Flower Extract Palace", where we were received and farewelled in a very hospitable way. This was first sent. . The perfume factory is less than a five-minute drive from the pyramids. According to our guide, it is run by a very rich Berber family. Our guide put this in such a way that the owners would not have to sell to tourists at all. She would have made enough money by selling it to big buyers and celebrities. And as proof, there were also photos of the owner everywhere, on which he posed radiantly with some celebrities - from the German corner: Mario Adorf, Lothar Matthäus, Christoph von der Sendung mit der Maus, etc. This was then proudly mentioned more than once. The premises were divided into many niches, where the sales talks took place in an "intimate setting". The seating is lavishly furnished with velvet covers, the walls above and above with glass bottles in display cases. . I was annoyed by the visit there, as this was especially excluded during our private tour... I had asked explicitly in advance. And then we found ourselves in the sales rooms before we understood what it was all about. The guide and also the hosts in the perfume factory (apparently a son of the family, the guide told us) emphasized again and again that there was no obligation to buy, but in the end all sales tricks were used. The free cold malventee after the dusty camel ride through the desert. Then the coffee and the black tea. The eagerly fetched scent samples that we should smell and which were applied to our arms. I have to say that we have been wrapped very cleverly. There were also staggered prices to encourage the purchase: 50 ml for 20 euros, 100 ml for 40 euros, 250 ml for 60 euros and 500 ml for 100 euros. Take four - then there is a bottle for free. And in addition, a small glass bottle is given as a gift. ... In fact, everything was driven up by sales skills. And time and again it was emphasized how serious it was here - in contrast to other sales outlets, where the perfumes are often inferior. Elsewhere, it would often happen that a completely different, inferior oil would be bottled and then you only notice it at home. This could not happen to us here, here we get our scent bottles filled from the large storage bottles right in front of our eyes. They are pure oils, no alcohol, no chemistry. The fragrances are said to last 1000 years. There were not only the usual "pure" fragrances, such as black cumin oil, almond oil, clove oil or musk oil, essences of lavender, jasmine, papyrus or lotus, but also fragrance blends were offered that would correspond to the well-known brand fragrances. The glass bottles in which the fragrances are sold are very stable. The seller demonstrated this several times by smashing an empty bottle against the wall. For transport, the bottles are secured with plastic caps. Glass pots for the home are enclosed. The whole thing then comes into a jewelry box (of course a gift!), wrapped in bubble wrap. This was to be a good way to survive the flight. . At the end of the day, and I am very reluctant to admit it, we decided to buy. And - don't ask me how mentally I was there - but we actually slammed really lavishly. Well, yes. One stupidity per holiday is perhaps allowed... Still. I wouldn't enter such a sales room. Once, more than enough is enough.

  • Unfortunately the oils seem to be quite diluted I'm not an expert but they evaporate very quickly and I sincerely believe that it's too expensive paid for what I can find in terms of quality price in Canada
