#1 of 12 in Parks in Cairo
Take in the history and scenery of Al-Azhar Park, a large public space that offers relaxing grounds and cultural intrigue right in the heart of the city. The result of a major redevelopment and archaeological project, the 30 hectare (74 acre) park opened in 2005 with a collection of landscaped gardens arranged in an array of different regional styles, plus renovated 12th-century walls and medieval mosques. Restaurants and cafes serve local delights next to the main water features, and the hills afford attractive views of the citadel. With our custom trip planner, Cairo attractions like Al-Azhar Park can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • The park is very different from Brazilian parks. It has some part with marble sidewalks. You find a lot of flirting places and this part is interesting to get an idea of local life. The boring part is you pay to get in. It is relatively close to the Mosque and the garbage town.

  • The park is very nice to walk or have a glass of tea on the top. It's always alive and full of people, school kids, tourists and all kinds of people. The water can be a pit cleaner but I accepted worse since allot of people were playing in the fountains. The park has a very nice Arabic architecture and full of greenery
  • Great place for a whole day outdoors and to enjoy long walks among the vast green areas. It is best to go early at the opening time. Very clean. Could use some more maintenance though. Needs more restaurants. Needs a much bigger parking space. Definitely needs more emphasis and attention to the historical areas all around the park, especially the parts of the old city wall that are actually on the premises.
