Explore the largest forest in country, Day Forest National Park--known for gigantic trees reaching 20 m (66 ft) in height and endemic species of birds. Surrounded by semi-desert landscape, these forests of East African junipers, olives, and camphor bushes (sometimes reaching 6 m [20 ft]) grow in abundance as the altitude rises. Observe the endemic Djibouti francolin bird and Djibouti sunbird, found only in the park. The dry forest and scarcity of green vegetation creates a desert-like ambiance. Day forest national park sure is worth a visit when in Djibouti. Awesome landscapes and with a bit of luck stunning colours of the vegetation blooming all around. Try to visit the mountain village Banquale and ask for Fatouma the lady running much of the handicraft business(es) here. But be sure you come with qualified guides/drivers.
Come here to see the Hemprich's hornbill. I was told that this is the only place in Djibouti to see the Hemprich's hornbill A long and VERY BUMPY road to come here, but it was very interesting
