Zrinjevac, Zagreb

#2 of 21 in Parks in Zagreb
Park · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
A verdant spot near the heart of Zagreb, Zrinjevac forms a key part in the city's network of parks popularly known as the "Green Horseshoe." Named after Nikola Zrinski, a local nobleman who won a series of battles against the Ottomans in 1556, the park features several landscaped gardens that provide a tranquil respite from the noise and commotion of the city. Shaded walkways lined by plane trees draw walkers and joggers, while impeccable lawns dotted with bubbling fountains serve picnickers seeking a quiet place near the city center. A standout among monumental buildings surrounding the park, the city's archaeological museum holds a major collection of prehistoric artifacts. • Lovely park in downtown Zagreb that's nice for strolling, picnicking, people-watching, bench-sitting... Some shaded areas thanks to the trees, and lots of green in the summer.  more »
  • We walked through the park on each day of our stay in Zagreb. There's a big nice fountain, as well as a few benches to chill on. Great place to relax in this buzzing city.  more »
