  • Krka Monastery. This Orthodox monastery was built on the ruins of a previous one and was dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, it is one of the most important of Dalmatia. Visiting its interior you can see wonderful frescoes many valuable religious works, it has a library full of manuscripts and rare books, going up upstairs you enter the refectory for religious and seminarians, since next to the monastery there is also the seminary that houses about 20 seminarians. Under the monastery there are the catacombs that are very interesting and still contain human remains while at the back there is their cemetery with a very nice little chapel with a beautiful park that arrives on the Krka River from where you can also arrive by boat from Ro Ki Slap. It is located within the beautiful Krka nature park 3 km from Kistanje. The ticket costs 120 Kune per person and also includes the entrance to the beautiful Krka Falls with all its natural park, or 40 Kune if you visit only the monastery including the visit to Burnum a few kilometers away which is an old military city of the time Roman. I was very pleased with the visit because I consider it important for its religious, spiritual value, for the beautiful works it contains, the place very relaxing and for the kindness and care of the caretaker who with much patience accompanied me on the visit explaining his whole story and I sincerely thank him for that.

  • We came during the ceremony at 6pm, and seeing the monks pray was a great experience :). The church and catacombs were superb, but there's not much to do without a guide.
  • A lot of history, very peacefull place. Surroundings are one of a kind, close to the fresh water of river Krka. Worth to visit for every second spent here.
