  • The church of San Biagio, patron saint of Dubrovnik, is by many confused with the cathedral, which is little beyond. This church is in fact more majestic than the cathedral, thanks to its Venetian baroque style and its (almost) square)-based shape. Unfortunately, it is currently partially surrounded by transennials that hinder its overall view, but the visible part is sufficient to account for the structure of the building. The top is adorned with numerous statues of saints who seem to be leaning on the verge of falling down at any moment. To reach the interior you have to climb a few steps; Once inside you can see the contrast between the richness of details and details of the exterior (typical of the 18th century baroque) with respect to the inside. San Biagio became the patron saint of the city because in 791 he appeared in a dream to a local priest signaling an imminent attack by the Venetians; Thanks to the dream, the city organized its defense and defeated the invaders.

  • Beautiful and intricate. An air conditioning would be lovely! Church honors the patron saint of Dubrovnik. And it's funny to know that he never came here. He was in Turkey!
  • There was a fake dead body that I really wanted to see, but they were in the middle of mass and everyone glared at me. 4/5 stars for dead bodies, 0/5 stars for glaring.
