Sitting on bare cliffs above the bay, Sudak Fortress served as an almost impregnable defense wall and citadel over the course of ten centuries. The complex stretches across 27.9 hectares (69 acres), featuring massive, well-preserved walls, towers, and buildings. Dating back to the 6th century, the fortress bears marks of the Byzantine and Genoese architectural styles. Take a walk along the two lines of defense and tour the remaining towers. You'll also see a temple that was transformed from a mosque to an Orthodox church, then to a Catholic cathedral, and finally to an archeological museum. Wear comfortable shoes. The fortress was last in 2004. During this time, a lot has changed - fortified walls, towers restored or simply put in order. There is a sanitary and commercial area on the territory. There is a stage with places where you can sit and relax. In the movie town you can see the buildings created for the shooting of films - built and left. There is a map at the entrance. If you calmly go on the specified route, the ascent to the top will be easy. Along the route there are several kinds of areas, which offers amazing views of the city and Sudak Bay. You can explore the fortress yourself (the ticket costs 200 rubles) or join the tour (50 rubles). I've been in the area for 3 hours since ...
