Massandra Palace, Massandra

Overlooking hills and meadows, Massandra Palace sits among lush English gardens, with its opulent ornamented facade and extravagant interior spaces. Originally created in 1889 as a hunting lodge for Tsar Alexander III, the building resembled a French chateau at the start. In later years, it became a holiday home of Joseph Stalin, who made it into one of Crimea's most elaborate structures. Walk along the landscaped gardens and explore hidden caves and alleys. Inside the mansion, tour the living quarters replete with antique mahogany furniture, marble fireplaces, and hallways featuring renowned paintings. A quaint cafe on the property offers a rich selection of local wines to taste.
