#1 of 13 in Shopping in Cook Islands
Do not miss the exciting cultural experience of Punanga Nui, a sprawling market offering produce, crafts, and much more. Traditional music sets the scene for a vibrant atmosphere, and you can spot dancers here and there while shopping. Freshly caught fish, honey, fruit, vegetables, and tropical flowers are all locally produced. If you do not plan to make your own dinner, head to the cooked-food tents instead. Sellers offer everything from mouthwatering fruit smoothies to kebabs. If you want to pick up some souvenirs, choose from pearls and shells, whale-bone necklaces, quilts, and sarongs. • The markets on Saturday where to buy sarongs, hats, t-shirts, taste food-great but clean-the best thing is the live music with dancing that accompanies shopping. To try out.

  • Relaxed casual night market with a heavy emphasis on food trucks. The Calamari salad is unbelievably good! Get there early if you're planning to eat there coz the tables get taken quickly. There are stalls that sells jewelleries, local crafts, tees, etc. Do Park a bit further and enjoy a relaxing walk.
  • Beautiful stores, food and people with good variety. Lovely for a Sunday market
  • Great market and must visit when on the island. Enjoyed the food selection and all the available trinkets and goods. Prices are not better than what you would find on the rest of the island.
  • A must visit for tourists. Good range of food and local wares. Great if you want a souvenir or a deal on black pearls.
  • Liked the smoothies, saw some people after a while!! :)

Where to stay in Rarotonga

Since pristine white beaches and turquoise lagoons are never far away in Rarotonga, where you stay depends entirely on how much you want to spend. The hotels and resorts tend to cluster around the most scenic beaches and lagoons. At the higher end, luxury resorts offer pampering comfort, but often share their beaches with much more affordable accommodations. If you want to explore a certain part of the island, look for lodgings nearby: although the buses are extremely convenient, they tend to meander at a very slow pace.
