Stroll through The Battlefields Park, a historical urban national park and green lung of Quebec City. Established as a park in 1908, the area contains the Plains of Abraham--site of a famous 1759 battle between British and French forces. The British victory proved decisive for the subsequent development of the nation. View numerous pieces of artillery sprawled across the park and admire the Martello towers, which the British built to defend the city against an American siege. The Battlefields Park Reviews
Fomos agora no verão, o dia estava ensolarado e haviam algumas pessoas fazendo picnic, tomando sol e aproveitando o dia e a grama verdinha. The park is a large wide field and has a clue around where people do walk, race or ride a bike.

This is one of the most important historic sites anywhere in Canada because it was here that the modern history of Canada was determined. The government has done a good job in retaining well groomed open spaces so one can get a feel for the famous battle that took place here. It's best to employ a guide when driving along the route to learn as much history as possible but a good brochure will do in a pinch.
I walked this park from all angles over the course of a week and was envious over the wonderful space that Quebec has set aside for the enjoyment of her citizens. From the Citadel to the the Museum of Fine Arts and beyond, the park is a series of rolling fields, nature paths and gardens. Large stands of hardwood trees line auto roads and walking paths and there are cannons of all description throughout the park. A wonderful place to get away from it all for a bit.
