Jean-Talon Market, Montreal

4.5
Roam the stalls of Jean-Talon Market, a farmers market in the Little Italy district of Quebec's largest city. Named after Jean Talon, the first intendant of New France, the market opened in 1933 and has since become a focal point of the neighborhood. Wander the rows of open air-stalls filled with colorful fruits, vegetables, fresh meat, and seafood. Sample local snacks or baked goods, visit gourmet stores for some artisan cheeses and wine, or get a hot cup of coffee to sample as you explore. • This place is one I long for from my days living in the city. Great selection, amazingly fresh produce and delicious selections of just about anything you can desire. The ability to live in the European style of daily shopping and fresh foods is easy around here. Plan to spend a full day for your first visit. Do it again because you'll love it. (Photos are a few years old, but the market holds this charm)
  • I absolutely love this place. It's my favorite market in Montreal. One of my favorite places altogether. I love buying in bulk, fresh, bio, local from people I already know who take the time to explain any questions I might have and help me try new things. This market is also super close from so many nice stores and restaurants. Totally recommended
