Established in 1967, Lang Pioneer Village Museum is an outdoor museum that features 30 restored and recreated buildings typical of a small 19th-century village. Costumed interpreters demonstrate the life and trades of a settler in the 1800’s. Many of the buildings were relocated to the Village from within Peterborough County in order to preserve the region’s history. Lang Pioneer Village nestles the shores of the Indian River and boasts a fully-operational Grist Mill, a Weaver Shop which houses one of only a handful authentic Jacquard looms on display in North America and an authentic First Nations encampment. Lang Pioneer Village is the perfect location to retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern living and enjoy the pleasures of an era gone by.Plan to see Lang Pioneer Village and other attractions that appeal to you using our Keene road trip site.
Lang Pioneer Village reviews
I had been to visit the village this past summer, for the first time. During my visit, one of the interpreters had suggested coming back for the Christmas event; so, I did. It was well worth the... more »

This place is really, really brilliant. Never mind how cold it is. Waiting in line to get in the horse buggie is boring. I went there with my family last Christmas and we came across a couple of mishaps. Because it was nighttime it was hard to see. My sister had a little accident she tripped and had her leg go entirely in a pothole in the side of the road. I say be very careful and bring a flashlight if you can. I say to go with a few friends that would be really fun way to escape the mundane. If you’re outside it gets chilly like crazy and it’s very busy at night so. Make sure you are warm with gloves, scarves and hats. There is the gift shop where you can buy lucky charms at moderate prices! And other like, um trinkets and gizmos. Good luck and enjoy it!
What a fabulous place! It's not only well kept and well run, but it's overwhelmingly full of interesting and educational information. The accompanying map provided at the main gate was so helpful. The staff was lovely and really helped answer questions and addressed all the many nuances about pioneer life. My children were thrilled with Lang so this place will appeal to all kinds of folks! The canteen was well stocked and the food was delicious! The property was bigger than I had expected! The staff dressed in period outfits were such a nice touch. I will be back here with my family!!
