Feel the grandeur of the Khmer Empire from Terrace of the Elephants, an impressive, intricately carved stone structure overlooking an enormous courtyard once used for ceremonies, royal receptions, and parades. Completed early in the 13th century, the 2.5 m (8.2 ft) high and 350 m (1,148 ft) long stone terrace features carvings depicting elephants, Khmer warriors, and dancers. One of the grandest royal terraces in Cambodia, it boasts five entry stairways guarded by huge elephants with their trunks serving as pillars. Bring your camera to capture the magnificent bas-relief. その名の通り、石造りの象のモチーフが多い一角です。昔の競技場だったそうです。個人的には象モチーフはそこまで好きではありませんが、好きならさらに楽しめると思います。しっぽの長い、野生の猿がたくさんいました。 more »As the name suggests, it is a corner with many stone elephant motifs. It seems to have been an old stadium. Personally, I don't like elephant motifs that much, but I think I can enjoy them even more if I like them. There were a lot of wild monkeys with long tails.
Although not as spectacular as other temples in the complex, the terrace of elephants can be viewed quickly while walking around - which is a nice break from taking transport between each site. I suggest this spot for those looking to get away from the business of the more popular temples but do not recommend it for those wanting to see the biggest and best while short on time.
Awesome sites. Be ready for a good workout of walking if you want to enjoy. Go early so it won't be hot.
