Trip Planner: Asia / Brunei Darussalam / Brunei-Muara District / Bandar Seri Begawan / Royal Regalia Museum
Get a glimpse into the life of a Sultan through the lavish exhibits at Royal Regalia Museum. Formerly called "Churchill's Museum" out of admiration for the British leader, the institution started as an imperial exhibition hall in 1992. Examine extensive photographs and even a hologram, all detailing the life of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. View the chariot used at his coronation, as well as another used in 1968. Beyond these displays, admire a large quantity of gold, jewels, and other pieces from royal ceremonies that have taken place over the years. Royal Regalia Museum Reviews
I am not fond of museums as it has a boring vibe on me, but since there are not alot of tourist destination in Bandar Seri Begawan, so we decided to dropby at the Royal Regalia Museum. I was amazed! I... more »
日本語ガイド（できれば日本... more »Take off your shoes at the entrance and change into slippers. There is a shoe box, but there is no key, so if you are worried, you may want to carry a bag with you. In addition, photography in the building is almost prohibited except for some, and all luggage including the smartphone is checked in a free locker before you visit. There are many things on display related to the Royal family of Brunei, but especially the kings of the 27-29s have deep ties to Japan and cannot understand them from the exhibits. If you use a Japanese guide (preferably Japanese people) to explain it to you, you will become more and more attached to Brunei. You can see that everything on display is gorgeous and rich. It was a meaningful time to know the thoughts and humanity of the royal people to the people.
A great museum where you can see gifts for the present sultan (weapons, clothes, vases, statuettes …). One part deals with the Sultan himself (from childhood to his reign). In addition, we were able to see the coronation throne. At the entrance, you can also see 2 state golden carriages. Entrance is free and without footwear. Fortunately, there are slippers and the only thing waiting for you is the guestbook, where you have to write the name, surname, date of visit, country and number of people. You can put your bag to the storage box with the lock. I definitely recommend having a sweatshirt or a scarf (the air-conditioning works great). No taking photos inside.
Really good! You only can take the picture in lobby. No picture inside, all the information about the Brunei's Sultan. Pictures, gifts from the other countries.
