Trip Planner: Europe / Bosnia and Herzegovina / Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina / Sarajevo Canton / Sarajevo / Galerija 11/07/95
See the memorial dedicated to victims from Srebrenica at Galerija 11/07/95, where images, maps and interactive materials detail the July 1995 massacre of civilians in this region. With 8,372 confirmed deaths, the act was acknowledged as the first genocide in Europe since World War II. The exhibits present the stories of the survivors and share portraits of murdered families. You'll also witness the offensive graffiti painted on house walls and buildings by enemy forces. The site provides an artistic representation of human pain with consequences that will never be mitigated. It is must see and important to watch videos as they tell stories of the people. Definately recommended more »
In my opinion this isn't a museum but a photo gallery that tells a story. With that being said it was a very informative way to spend a couple of hours looking at the pictures and watching the... more »
Heartbreaking, intense yet beautiful. The gallery is small but it showcases a good mix of art and information about the genocide in Srebrenica, allowing the visitors to learn about the history in different angles. Even though the gallery is small, you can easily spend a day there depending how much you want to take in. My ticket was valid for two days, and I would have went back the next day if I didn’t have a flight to catch because there is just so much to digest. Highly recommend to get the audio guide since it explains a lot about the photos displayed in the gallery. The computer contains a lot of a information and small details of the whole event, while the short film is just impressive - you can really see how emotionally this genocide affects the people. I would suggest everyone to pay a visit.
One room exhibition with several photos. As the name suggests, it focus on the after match rather than the war itself. The entrance fee the the highest of all the museums I went(12 marks), and +4 marks for the audio guide (which is totally worth it). Sadly, it fells that it is too small. The quality of the photos and audio guide are great, I wish there were more. By the end of the room there are 2 movies with more than 1 hour duration, also worth your time.
