Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity (Bermuda Cathedral), Hamilton

#2 of 10 in Historic Sites in Hamilton
The magnificent facade of Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity (Bermuda Cathedral) is matched only by its interior. Built primarily from limestone in the gothic revival style between 1886-1905, the church was officially consecrated in 1911, serving as the mother church of the Anglican diocese in Bermuda. As you enter, the glow from the ornately decorated stained glass windows will wash over you, with silhouettes of many of the carved Caen stone decorations from France drawing you in for a closer look. You can climb the striking church tower, its 157 steps leading you to panoramic views of the city of Hamilton and the harbor. • This is an active Anglican Cathedral run by a very well liked and respected bishop. I am not an Anglican but I have been there a few times. I would not consider it a tourist location but it is in...  more »
  • We had to step in and were welcomed as there was not a service in session. It's a classic Episcopal cathedral with some impressive decoration. Towers above the city and you can't miss it.  more »

  • I got the chance to come visit this church after seeing The Unfinished Church with my family members. This structure is very nice, so I see why some are elated that the other was not completed. By the way, climb the stairs to get to the top to see the area. This church has awesome architectural points of interest. It's a popular tourist attraction here in Bermuda as it was the second church built the Scottish architect William Hay stopped working on The Unfinished Church. The structure was apparently started in the 1880's but was not completed until like 1910 and now this is one of the attractions here in Bermuda. This stop was definitely worth visiting and listening to the locals tell the story of the structure's history.
