Home to more than 2,000 howler monkeys, over 250 bird species, and a wide array of other animals that frequent the area, Community Baboon Sanctuary Visitor Center and Museum invites you to observe fascinating creatures in their natural habitat. The sanctuary, which stretches for over 51 sq km (20 sq mi), is one of the first of its kind in the world. It came about thanks to over 200 land owners from seven villages, who pledged their land to protect the endangered monkey species.   • This was an amazing experience. My guide was knowledgeable and clearly a monkey whisperer. Your dollars also go towards the important effort of preserving land for these beautiful animals.
  • Although they do not have you feed the howler monkeys anymore it was so cool to literally be standing right under the trees they were climbing around in. Be sure to wear sneakers lots of walking in jungle area and drink lots of water when the sun is full force it gets pretty toasty. The guide was super friendly and very informative about the jungle life. There are bathrooms where you check in, go before you walk so you can just relax and enjoy the howler monkeys for as long as you'd like
