Guildhalls along a small canal make Ghent City Center a favorite stopping place for tourists. The city isn't included in many guided tours of Belgium and maintains the feel of a local, undiscovered destination. In the center you have your choice of restaurants and bars with views of stunning architecture and the river. Tour at your leisure the central Belfort en Lakenhalle, or the "Belfry and Cloth Hall," as well as the cathedral where Charles V was baptized. Consider a walking tour through the narrow streets and across the canal bridges to gain a fuller appreciation of this historic center. Using our world travel planner, Ghent attractions like Ghent City Center can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

Providing suitable shoes because walking down cobblestones over several hours can be challenging. And check the opening times to avoid finding closed doors! A downside for the night tour of the center. It is indicated that from sunset to midnight, the city is staged under special lighting creating a "fairy tale of light and shadow" atmosphere... Admittedly it was pretty. But not "magical." That said, you might as well do it if you're there it's still nice.
