  • When I was 31 years old, I came to this house where I lived with my brother Ferdinand, who is also a composer at the recommendation of a doctor. Then he traveled to Eisenstadt and deity to the cemetery of Haydn. He was sick in the restaurant with his brothers on October 31st. I listened to my brother's Requiem at Church on November 3. It was a stay of three months in 19 days when "typhoid fever" was lost in the sickbed on 11 days. The public of this House is confirmed for the limited time of the water and the tree. The main room is facing the courtyard, so first press the intercom button beside the door of the building to open the courtyard to the museum on the second floor. Three rooms, including the deceased bedroom and the piano room, are open to the public.

  • A plaque commemorates that the composer Franz Schubert died here in his brother's house. The house is inhabited and therefore not open to the public.

  • The terrible museum doorkeeper My sister is very interested about Schubert, so she came to visit the Schuberts death house. The doorkeeper in museum spoke only German and gestured to ask the document what can proof my sister under 19 and problem began. Cause by other museum like "albertina" or " Schubert birth house" my sister showed the photo of passport and got the student ticket, but in here no chance get student ticket without real doc, so my sister bought adult ticket. this is total ok, my sister should take the passport by her, but next thing is too malicious to torelate. My sister found that someone left a piece sheetmusic work as tribute to Schubert on the guestbook(how brilliant talent is the musician has), and would like to make a photo, the doorkeeper yelled at her " no photo! " that's all the English he can !! Here i demand an apology for rude behavior if no legal rule of forbiddance for photo of guestbook !!!
  • Lovers of Schubert will probably want to visit this museum for its historical value, but they may be disappointed by the lack of explanation (in German or English) on many of the exhibits. Visitors can sit and listen to Schubert works through headphones, but the audio quality is not so good. The original mss. are interesting.
